Daily Exercise Regime & Enrichment Programme For Day Care & Boarding Dogs
At New Dawn - Cornwall, we use a number of different activities to make sure that every dog's stay is happy, fun, and low-stress. Whether it be introducing a treat puzzle or a lavender-scented toy or playing calming music; we will make the boarding and daycare experience enjoyable for each guest.
We use enrichment toys to keep your dog entertained. These range from snuffle mats and treat puzzles to keep dogs’ minds working as they eat. We provide one on one time for play with their favorite toys; which can be bought from home or supplied by us.
Please let us know your dog's preference, as we have a wide range of toys available.
We will continue any training that is implemented at home such as sit, stay, lie down. Please let us know when you bring them in if there are any tricks other than the basic commands you would like us to carry on training.
Your dog will also receive daily grooming (additional to any of your own grooming requirements), using the positive reinforcement of a licky mat to make it a pleasurable experience. Please let us know if there is any where your dog is not comfortable being touched, so we can keep it a positive and enjoyable experience for them.
Last but not least they will get plenty of cuddle time!
During each day of your dog's stay, they will be taken outside and walked either on their own (1:1), with our own dogs and / or other boarding dogs. Or if suitable, they will join in with any of our scheduled dog walks we provide throughout mid Cornwall. The duration of our daily walk will depend on your dog's needs, your requirements and their physical fitness level.
The licensing standards stipulate as a minimum, we must provide a minimum of two, 20 minute walks per day.
If you are happy for your dog to be walked off lead, then during these walks your dog will be able to run lead free, in accordance with your signed consent.
Other times during the day, your dog will be exercised in the garden in order to gain more exercise and stimulation.
If your dog cannot be exercised for veterinary reasons, but will benefit from play and stimulation, then we will use enrichment toys for the same period of time as above. If not advised, then we will groom, play or just be with and stroke and cuddle your dog, giving one to one attention during this time.
