'New Dawn' Shepherd Hut - available to rent
Be apart of our adventure and take a well deserved break in our 'New Dawn' shepherd hut. We are proud to say we built it from scratch with our own hands, love, hard work and determination. We overcome several difficulties, lost a some tears and made a few mistakes but learnt so much along the way, we're very pleased to say it's now finished and ready to be a holiday retreat for humans and hounds!
'New Dawn' is more than just a luxury home from home dog boarding retreat but it's also a hidden gem for holiday makers seeking tranquillity and charm for themselves. Our shepherd hut 'New Dawn' is located centrally in the heart of Cornwall and nestled in a small hamlet called Enniscaven, which is a stone's throw from the picturesque National Nature Reserve called the Goss Moor.
It has views of Castle an Dinas; an Iron Age Hillfort, Belowda Beacon and you can even spot Roche Rock; a medieval castle perched on a 66-foot granite rock - you have to see it to believe it! This quaint hamlet and moorland is home to a range of habitats and species that has resulted in it being designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a Special Area of Conservation.
Inside the characterful shepherds hut, you will find yourself in the open-plan kitchen/dining/sleeping area. Tucked away at the far end; under the curved ceiling, is a cosy king-size bed with plenty of storage below. The galley kitchen allows for cooking simple meals and has a dining set with a fold out table and stools or a comfortable bench to sit on. The shower room is small but beautifully formed with modern interiors and a walk-in shower. Outside we have supplied a bbq, which doubles up as a fire pit after cooking in the garden for increased options.
Our charming hut is adorned with simple yet tasteful furnishings, as well as a wall-mounted smart TV (it has fibre broadband to the hut) to catch up on favourite programs from the two seater cushioned bench or the comfort of the bed, making it an ideal destination for a short stay to relax and rejuvenate. Open the double doors and listen to the sound of the birds singing from the trees or perhaps spot a roaming hedgehog at dusk! Take breakfast al fresco enjoying the private garden or by night, relax by the fire pit and stargaze to your heart's content.
The outside area is private and very peaceful with a private seating area in which to relax and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. Sun Loungers are also provided for those sunny days to stay at 'New Dawn' and just switch off and relax.
With its natural beauty and peaceful ambiance, Enniscaven and the Goss Moor provides a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, making it an ideal holiday destination for those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation amidst this idyllic setting.
The accommodation is located with easy access to Cornwall's main roads. Both sides of Cornwall's golden beaches and rugged cliffs can be reached easily, with Newquay, St. Austell and the city of Truro, all driveable within a short 20 minute drive from the hamlet, with the historic port of Charlestown being the closest.

Well what an absolute gem of a place Emma has! If you’re thinking about it - book it, it’s the best Airbnb we’ve stayed in with our dog and toddler. The enclosed garden makes it super safe for them to run around in, it’s so peaceful at night we enjoyed sitting outside looking at the stars with the fire pit lit - just bliss 🔥 The hut itself is much more spacious than the photos show (our travel cot fit in no problem with space around it) and the bed is ginormous! It felt so homely and the welcome cakes were such a lovely treat! Emma had our Jasper for the day so we could go out too - such a bonus. Dog owners get booking 😊 and if you’re looking for an activity do the camel trail 🚲

An absolutely gorgeous little place. The shepherds hut was lovely with everything we needed plus extra for our stay. It's small but that's part of it's charm. The bed was very comfortable, books, games there to use plus the internet and TV. I shared with my 11 year old daughter and 8 month labrador, and it was perfect for us!
Location is brilliant being central for exploring both coasts or just going for country walks. The outside space was brilliant! Totally privately fenced in and very large beautiful dog, very secure garden with table, chairs, loungers, fire pit, giant jenga and even spare wellies if needed.
Having the doggy day care next door was brilliant as we booked our 8 month old pup in for a few dog free days. Having never left her before I was worried how she would cope but she had an absolute whale of a time and Emma (the owner) is so friendly and good with the dogs and very helpful. My dog even sat waiting by the side entrance to the day care hoping to go back on the day we were leaving! Made for such a relaxing holiday, knowing she was being well cared for and enjoying herself (plenty of pics sent) while we could explore dog free options and collect her for evening cuddles once back at the hut.
Very private, quiet and not overlooked. The milk, tea and coffee and 2 pieces of cake were most welcome after our long drive there also, many many thanks for a lovely stay.

When we arrived at Emma’s property, we instantly fell in love! The shepherds hut was clean, had all the essentials, and even a couple of extras that were perfect after a long journey. It was much more spacious than the photos seem to show, and the big secure, open garden was perfect for our dog, Millie! The whole area was completely private and really felt like it was our own space to completely switch off. Emma has been amazing before the stay at answering any questions and giving us some great recommendations, and through our stay, even popping over to give us some more fire lighters after we had a failed first attempt to light the fire pit! She was always on hand if we needed anything, without being intrusive, and she had left a really helpful guide in the property, too. The location was also perfect with popular areas being around 20-30 minutes drive (A car is a must). We can’t wait to book our next visit!

Wow, what a find! We wanted to extend our holiday in Cornwall, and stumbled across this newly listed shepherds hut hosted by Emma. We were greeted with a warm welcome, and a quick tour of everything meant we settled in super quick. The attention to detail Emma has put in, to making this shepherds hut so perfect in every way, just kept a smile on our faces the whole time we were there. The pictures don’t do it justice of how wonderful and idyllic the space she has created is. You can truly shut off from the world here in the garden, and relax. Would recommend to ANYONE who wants to experience a shepherds hut vacation, you will not be disappointed!!
All the best, Callum & Toni
